Permalink THIS WAS A LABOR OF LOVE AND IT’S FAR FAR FAR FROM PERFECT!!!!!Now that I got that out if the way, this is only the third thing I’ve ever made from sculpey and my second Princess Sally. There’s a lot of errors on this thing, but I’ve spent too many months on it to not keep it.Her torso is from a Savage Land Storm (X-Men) figure, as are the arms and thighs. Her head, hair, tail, and boots were molded out of sculpey. The vest is from that kid from The Secret Saturdays cartoon (don’t know his name cause I hated that show), the eye lashes I painstakingly cut from a piece of black felt. The gray fabric tied around her arms in various places and at the top of her boots are to cover up arm bands that were molded on the Storm figure that I couldn’t safely slice off, so it’s like she’s wearing rags to cover up scars or something (lol). The rock she’s attached to is from the railroad tracks out in the country where I grew up, and the log behind her is from a branch in our yard. NICOLE (the little device in her had) isn’t modeled accurately to the show, but I had some sculpey left over and just made something similar for Sally to hold. Her nose is too big, but I didn’t feel like cutting it off, making another one and wasting a bunch of electricity to bake a tiny piece of clay to replace it so it’s as is. The whole thing is painted with acrylics and pieces are glued down with Gorilla Glue (I hate that stuff). The main reason I did this was to “see if I could make a better one that my previous one” http://theoriginalmistajonz.deviantart.com/art/Old-Princess-Sally-model-282863682 and I think it looks miles better. Size comparison to my old one, along with my second ever sculpture (my own mascot CALViN!) can be seen here http://theoriginalmistajonz.deviantart.com/art/Sally-and-CALViN-282863950Overall, I’ve spent about 4 months working on it off and on. I think I’ll take another 5 month break from sculpey before I attempt another figure…maybe Sparkster the Rocket Knight will be next…maybe
Permalink My best bud Ryan Buck bought me this the other day…well, it was at my doorstep yesterday afternoon when I got home. I wasn’t expecting it at all, and when I saw the box at the door, I thought it was my Club Nintendo Legend of Zelda 3 Poster Set, but upon opening, I saw where Ryan had ordered it for me. More than likely because I was never able to get my hands on this version of Mer-Man (from Matty Collector’s Adult Collector line of Masters of the Universe figures). I would always see the blue Mer-Man, packaged with Aqua Man at Toys ‘r’ Us from the MOTU vs DC line. This is so cool, and it rained like crazy yesterday so the standing water seemed like a good fit for this character.
Permalink The bad news…the line art for this picture is about 6 years old. I drew it a few years ago when I was drawing other Disney characters for the hell of it. The colors and background are from this year though. I doubt my colors were able to salvage this piece.
Permalink Oh Spider-Man, I love you so much…but I don’t think I’ll ever draw you again. Well, maybe not until a year or so passes. I’m too much of a cartoonist to try and do comic book style art, so it’s nowhere near perfect. I drew this nonsense last year so I could show my friend Mario how to color something a different way, and I think I gave the original sketch to my buddy Deon. After about 7 hours (mostly the spider webs and webbing on his costume) I’m calling it quits.
Permalink Real Name: Rhys Edward Jones Alias: Tater TotAge: 4 (for all intents and purposes)Powers: Flight, super strength, energy blasts and super speedOrigin: While crawling around his nursery at the age of 1 year, Rhys noticed a strange blue glow under his crib. Curious as most babies are, he worked his way under the bed only to find the glowing object was actually a portal into another dimension. Upon his arrival he was greeted by three celestial beings, whom, after being taken away by his cuteness, decided to bombard him with cosmic energy, granting him with fantastic powers. They tossed him back through the portal, closing it behind him. His parents heard the thud of the baby hitting the floor and ran to see if everything was alright. They noticed the little boy was floating above his crib, shooting his building blocks with glowing blue bursts of energy, and giggling maniacally. His dad, being the mega awesome nerd that he is, decided the best thing to do was take advantage of the situation and design a costume for his son, turning him into the world’s youngest superhero. Mom questioned his actions, as there were no super villains for him to do battle with, so why bother. Well, three years later, baby criminals began appearing out of nowhere, robbing Babies ‘r’ Us, Baby Gap, and every baby food and baby supply factory in the world, making it hard for parents to keep their children fed and clothed. Rhys wasn’t having it. His dad had been training him for three years, subjecting him to Mega Man and Sonic games, and reading him comic books 24 hours a day, and with this conditioning, Rhys set out to find just who was behind this nonsense. As it turns out, another baby had been exposed to the same cosmic energy he had, but by three EVIL celestial beings, and this baby was pure evil straight out of the womb. She called herself Death Wiggle, and from the moment she and Tater Tot met, it was clear that it would be their destiny to do battle until one side proved victorious…or until one of them needed a nap…whichever comes first.
Permalink This is the only other picture I’ve drawn in the past few months and I FINALLY found time to color it.The background was one that I painted for an old My Pet Monster picture I did for my friend Mario, and lost it, so I had to REPAINT it. It looks almost the same, minus some toys on the floor and shelves, and there’s no art on the easel this time. Oh well, still looks like a kid’s room…sorta.I do so love my Wacom tablet!
Permalink Who saw this one coming? Well, people that know me personally more than likely. For those of you that don’t, mista jonz loves French cartoons/comics/video games, and I was really excited when they announced a Tintin movie a few years ago. Having read a lot of the comics in my high school French class ages ago, along with Asterix, watching the animated series on Nickelodeon, and seeing the classic live action Tintin movies (yes, there were Tintin movies before this new CGI movie), and sharing a first name with the creator (minus an “s”) I can safely say I’m a fan. This picture took me a few weeks to finish, mainly due to life getting in the way along with all the art jobs for the business piling up, but I couldn’t take it anymore and decided to finish it off this morning. I wanted to draw that well known picture by creator Georges Rémi, but add my own flavor to it (including a background). It’s not perfect but I like it.
Permalink Cause, you know, some people don’t realize it still…
Permalink Ah, Sly Cooper, to me, you’re nowhere near as cool as Sonic, but you’re a raccoon and I thoroughly enjoy your games so you get cool points for that.I haven’t drawn in quite a while and I’m pretty rusty. My Rocket Raccoon picture from a few days ago is proof of that. This is only the second thing I’ve drawn in months, that is, as far as something that’s not work related. Man, it feels so uneasy holding a pencil and drawing characters when you’ve been busy designing shirts and signs for clients. Oh well. This is the first time I’ve ever drawn and POSTED a picture of Sly, and will probably be the last. That background was a pain to try and mimic the look of the game (painted from a reference) but I think it turned out ok.
Permalink I haven’t drawn anything in over 2 months…at least anything that wasn’t work related, and that’s mostly graphic design. What we also have here is gun fail.I had no idea who Rocket Raccoon was until Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, as I’m sure I’m not the only one. I did a little research, and he seems to predate Bucky O’Hare by at least 3 years, and Star Fox by a lot more than that. I browsed through a trade paperback of Marvel Comics’ Annihilation to see him in comic book form, so I based my artwork around that version. I might do a Marvel vs Capcom 3 version later…whenever I fee like I can draw again. Seeing as how it’s been so long since I picked up a pencil, EVERYTHING felt awkward when I was sketching this. I blame all the awesome video games and cartoons that have come out in the past 2 months for my lack of drawing.

Permalink With my internet no working fully in the past few days, I decided to dig around on my hard drive and see if I had anything I hadn’t finished yet….Of course, there’s always unfinished work. This is quite old…well, the line art and the flats on Bebop and Mikey. I drew this and started coloring it back in 2003, but never got around to finishing it. I think partially because my computer had died (again) and I wasn’t happy with the results of the art itself. But I digress. 8 years later, this morning, I decided to finish it, and even paint a new background, trying to prove to myself that when my coloring skills get better, I can make even my ugliest artwork look decent.Mikey’s legs are positioned in a way I’m pretty sure isn’t possible…another reason I never finished it. But hey, it’s Ninja Turtles fanart, and there’s never too much of that.
Permalink Bubsy. ‘Nuff said.

Permalink Ok, so this picture is old and new. Chun-Li is from 2008. My friend Donald wanted me to draw him a picture of Chun-Li like in the opening of one of the Street Fighter Alpha games (I forget at the moment which game this pose is from) but wearing her traditional outfit. The original picture actually was a full body shot, but after I painted this new background (based of a photo of the Great Wall, as I’ve never been to China) I realized her feet didn’t line up with the steps. Anyway, the background was painted this year (2011) and took approximately 8 hours and 34 minutes (over the course of 2 days) in Painter X on an old Wacom tablet.I don’t have the original PSD file for Chun-Li, or the original line art as Donald has it now so separating her from the original gradient background she was on was a bit of a challenge.
